Commerce 365 for Sendcloud works with both Sendcloud API V2 and the newer API V3. You select the version in the Sendcloud API Version field on the Sendcloud Setup page. This article explains how the two versions differ, so you can choose the right one for your business.
Which version should I use?
Stay on V2 if your processes rely on any of these:
- importing Sendcloud carrier shipping methods upfront
- mapping Sendcloud carrier shipping methods to BC shipping agents and services
- setting commercial prices per shipping method
Consider V3 if you want to:
- work with multiple contract of the same carrier
- map BC shipping agents (and shipping agent services) to carriers on the Sendcloud platform
- often send multi-collo shipments
- use any of the V3 features on the Sendcloud platform
At a glance
| API V2 | API V3 | |
|---|---|---|
| Import shipping methods/options into BC upfront | Yes | No (Sendcloud doesn't offer this yet) |
| Map shipping methods/options to carriers and services | Yes | No |
| Map BC Shipping Agents and Services to Sendcloud carriers | Not used | Yes |
| Work with a commercial price per shipping method/option | Yes | No |
| Multi-collo shipments | Limited | Yes, applied automatically when the carrier service supports it |
Note: Sendcloud is still developing the V3 API. Once Sendcloud lets us fetch shipping options upfront, we expect V3 to match V2 on these points. See the release notes for updates.
