In order to speed up the item creation process we have created the ability to work with templates which contain predefined settings. When using a template these settings are automatically applied to the items and item variants that are being created. You have the ability to create as much templates as you like but know that when only one template exists this will be automatically applied.

Magento Item Template

A Magento item variant template can be created by navigating to Master Data > Magento Item Templates.

Click "+ New" to create a new Magento item template.

You are free to configure the Magento item variant template as far as you like, note that the Code and Type are required fields.

The setup shown in the Magento item template above will ensure that the item is configured automatically and correctly. When using Items without variants the type needs to be set to "Simple".

Note that the template above will not create correct item variants since this has to be set up on an additional Magento Item Variant template described in the next section.

Magento Item Variant Template

When working with item variants using only the Magento item template will not be sufficient. Therefore you are able to set up a Magento item variant template in case variants exist. A Magento item variant template can be created by navigating to Master Data > Magento Item Variant Templates.

Click "+ New" to create a new Magento item variant template.

You are free to configure the Magento item variant template as far as you like, note that the Code and Type are required fields.

The setup shown in the Magento item variant template above will ensure that all item variants are configured automatically and correctly.

The only thing left to do is to set this Magento item variant template as the variant template to be used on the Magento Item template to ensure all items and item variants are created automatically.
